Summer is Almost Here in Alaska

Winter is just a memory in McCarrthy and summer is set to burst forth with the Aspen leaves just now popping out.

And it looks like it will be a great summer! Our schedule is really filling up early this year, especialy for July and August but we have a few trips with some spaces available.

We can also schedule a private trip for just your group at a variety of points during the summer. Give us a call and we can put together a custom trip for you. Private trips are the same cost per person as our group trips.

Below are two treks that we are featuring. Both of these fall in the moderate to sometimes challenging range of difficulty and are 7 days in length.

FEATURED TRIPS
Twin Lakes

Twin Lakes Ramble

7 Days | June 19-25
Moderate to More Challenging

The Twin Lakes Summit Ramble is being offerred just once this summer.

This will be a 7 day trip with a landing at lower Twin and pickup at upper Twin Lakes.

We're calling it a ramble because we're going to be footloose on this one with no hard and fast itinerary. So the attitude will be relaxed. We'll setup our first camp on lower twin, pull out the maps and see what looks like fun and just make up a route and plan as we go.

It's a trip that will appeal to a wide range of folks. If you're in good hiking shape then you will do well on this trek. Some days we might shoulder the packs and find a route up a "back alley valley" or hike along the lake. When we get to a peak we want to do we'll drop our loads, set camp and scoot up to the top.

The price includes pretty much everything from departure Anchorage including flights to Port Alsworth and Twin Lakes.

Pyramid Peak

Pyramid Peak

7 Days | July 5-11, Aug 16-22
More Challenging

Pyramid Peak is a personal favorite and I always look forward to getting out on this route.

It's a seven day trek that occupies a sweet spot between a more challeinging trek like Seven Pass and one of our moderate trips. There are some challenging days for sure but with some easier days mixed in as well.

Part of the route involves hiking around the lower reaches of Pyramid Peak. Each day reveals a totally new view on this dramatic mountain.

The views of the University range are just amazing and the passage through the ruins of the old Chititu mining district adds an interesting historic element to the trip.
