Summer will be here soon and we are already gearing up for our guests this summer. I just got back from a quick trip to McCarthy and was surprised at how much snow is on the ground there. But don't worry - it will melt out before you arrive. For a bit more about the trip to McCarthy check out the latest entry on our new blog!

Featured Trip: Seven Pass Route

       Trek Alaska

Lakeside camp on the Seven Pass Trek

I call this one our Alaska sampler trek because it includes such a nice variety of terrain. Each valley and pass is something new and different.

We start off by flying into Iceberg Lake and a lot of folks comment that the flight into the backcountry is one of the highlights of the trek. You'll understand why as we fly over huge glaciers and towering ridges that just seem to go on forever.

Once the whole group is on the ground at Iceberg we head west down the valley that is still being vacated by a glacier. After lunch we strap on the crampons and get out on the ice and explore the fascinating world of glaciers. A bit more hiking beyond the glacier and we make our first camp.

As soon as we pass beyond the glacier everything changes and things get really green. Then it's up to our first pass which features an amazing viewpoint overlooking the Bremner glacier and the next day's journey.

Once passed the Bremner glacier we leave behind the world of ice as we continue on our way through a rich and verdant valley. And then again it all changes as we go up and over a pass that offers a rocky lunar landscape.

And it just keeps changing. We get to experience a lot of beautiful country and a lot of different terrain on this exciting and challenging 8 day trek. We pretty frequently spot bears on the route too so that's another plus as are the lovely lakes that we get to camp near at times.
