Overlooking Iceberg Lake - start of the 7-Pass Trek

Greetings All

May is a transitional month here in McCarthy. We are going from sleepy winter town to a busy little village. Some days it feels like summer and others it's been pretty chilly. Whithin the next few weeks things will start to liven up as the first visitors of the summer start to arrive.

This will be a short newsletter to highlight some trips that have spaces still available.

Hot Trips

I opened up a Seven Pass trip for August 9 - 16. This is the hot ticket for August as it is our most popular trip. If you've been considering the Seven Pass trek I recommend signing up soon - it will fill up in the coming weeks. What makes the trip so great is the endless variety of terrain that seems to be constantly offering something new. It also includes two glacier crossings which are always a highlight.

Base Camp Trips
If you are wanting something a bit less challenging but with equally stunning scenery then consider one of the Skolai Pass base camp trips that are scheduled for August. Sheep, caribou, bear... this is an excellent area for wildlife spotting. And since it's a base camp trip, we do most of our hiking with light day packs.

Another good choice for a base camp trip is the Bremner trip. This offers outstanding day hiking as well as some gold mining history.

Early season backcountry

Skolai Pass - Room to roam!

It's getting late to be planning a June backcountry trip, so make plans right away. The two top trips for June are the Donoho Glacier trip and the Nutzotin Traverse. Give us a call to schedule one of these trips. If you are just going to be in McCarthy for a few days then a glacier hike or overnighter at the Root Glacier would be ideal.

So if you're a solos traveller take a look at the trips that are still available. If you have your own group together we can schedule a trip for you over a wide range of dates this summer. Call us about availability for the times you are looking at.

2007 Trips Summary: Scheduled Group Trips Calendar

The following is the current status of our scheduled group trips. These trips are ideal for solo travelers or couples who don't want to pay the high cost of a custom trip for just one or two people. Some of these trips are already full, so don't wait to make your plans. Other times may be available if you have a group of three or more. If you don't see the trip you want or the time slot you need, give me a call and let's see what we can work out.

A ? in the spots remaining column indicates that there may or may not be one space left.
