Trips
are starting to fill up for this summer so I've included a chart
of scheduled group trips and the current availability. Of special
interest will be our new package pricing that includes lodging
in McCarthy as well as van transportation round trip from Anchorage
to McCarthy.

New for 2007: Package Pricing
One of the logistical elements that has always
been problematic for visitors to Wrangell-St. Elias is transportation. Last month I mentioned a new shuttle service that will be operating between Anchorage and McCarthy starting this summer. As a result, Trek Alaska is now providing package pricing on most of our trips.
Take a look at the individual trip pages to see this pricing. Prices on most trips are now shown for:
- Trek only
- Trek, R/T van transport Anchorage/McCarthy, lodging
in McCarthy before and after the trek
- Trek, lodging in McCarthy
It would cost you the same amount to book these
services on your own. We put together this package pricing to ease
the logistical burden for our guests. Here is a link to our trip
overview page. Click on the individual trip links to see the
package pricing for each trip.
There are a few lodging options that we can
talk about so give me a call if you have questions.

Trip: Seven Pass Trek
I need to come clean at the start and say that
- there aren't seven passes on this route. The original route that
was pioneered many years ago did cross seven passes, but it would
take most mortals two weeks to complete. What has today become
known as the Seven
Pass Route, is a subset of the original. But don't worry, at
the end of this trip you won't be asking, where's the beef. We
only trimmed fat from the original route, including some nasty
bushwhacks.
What's left is a an 8 day trip that will leave
you amazed with the never ending variety of stunning terrain.
From broad glaciers, to windswept ridges, to high alpine lakes
- this trip is the most quintessentially Alaskan trek that
we do. It's sometimes a challenging trek, but the rewards
are well worth it. We have a group trip scheduled in July that's
filling up fast so if you've been thinking about it this trip
let me know soon before it's full.
Oh, there are three passes on the trek - but
it's become known as the Seven Pass Route and you just can't mess
with tradition.

Trips Summary: Scheduled Group Trips
The following is a chart of our scheduled group
trips. These trips are ideal for solo travelers or couples who
don't want to pay the high cost of a small, custom trip for one
or two people. Some of these trips are already filling up, so don't
wait too long to make your plans.
I'm ending this edition with a bit of a teaser.
I'm going to be adding a new trip in a few weeks, a base camping/loop
trip to Skolai Pass. This will be a moderate trip to a fantastic
spot. In fact if you've heard of anywhere in Wrangell-St. Elias,
it's probably Skolai Pass!. I'll send out a special notice about
this trip in a week or so, just as soon as it's posted on the web
site.
That's it for this month. I look forward to hearing from you.
See you in January.
Regards,
Greg Fensterman
